Gourds, Autumn Wings Blend

1

Ornamental Gourds belong to the cucumber family, Cucurbitaceae, and are among the oldest cultivated plants. They were the early water bottles of the Egyptians (2200 or 2400 B.C.) and were traditionally used as utensils, storage containers, and dippers by indigenous peoples in North America.

Today, these garden novelties can be used for many purposes, from ornamental displays on the Thanksgiving table or turned into birdhouses, musical instruments (shakers, maracas, drums), vases, and bowls.

Grown by Malinda Haeners Family Farm in Aurora, OR.
