Why We’re Loving Our Red Wattle Pork
If you’ve chatted with us at the market lately, you’ve probably heard us gush about our Red Wattle pigs. They’re a heritage breed with a fun name and even better flavor, and we couldn’t be more excited to share their pork with you.
So Much Flavor
Red Wattle pork is famous for being super tasty and tender. The meat has beautiful marbling, which means juicy chops, rich roasts, and pulled pork that practically melts in your mouth.
Happy, Outdoorsy Pigs
These pigs love being outside and rooting around in the pasture. They forage, play, nap in the sun — basically live their best piggy lives — which makes for healthier animals and better-tasting meat.
Good-for-You, Good-for-the-Land
Because they’re out on pasture and eating a varied diet, their pork naturally has a richer nutrient profile than typical grocery store pork. Plus, letting them forage reduces our need for outside feed and keeps our soil healthy too.
Saving a Rare Breed
Red Wattles are considered a rare heritage breed. By raising them, we’re helping keep their genetics alive and adding a little more diversity back into farming.
We’re so proud to offer pork that’s not just delicious, but also raised in a way that’s good for the pigs, the land, and your table. If you’ve been curious, now’s a great time to give it a try!
They are raised hormone, vaccine, and antibiotic-free, fed a diet free of GMO corn and soy, supplemented with surplus veggies from our market garden and fruit trees, and pasture-rotated. They are processed at a USDA-certified facility for Mid March and Mid May delivery.
